Fantasy Island in New York City

If you are loving the 70-degree weather today in New York City, just think how great it will feel when you are enjoying it on the equivalent of "Fantasy Island" in Chelsea.

Thanks to $100 million in private funding and a lot of imagination, New York will soon feature a 2.7-acre floating oasis of park space and arts on the Hudson River. This rolling landscape venue, 186 feet offshore, will include small groves, open grass and multiple areas for lounging when your corporate meeting attendees are seeking some outdoor downtime.

The park will also feature a 700-seat amphitheater with performances curated by Oscar-winning producer Scott Rudin. Shackman Associates New York has produced major entertainment events for corporate meetings and association conventions and the proposed theater at Pier 55 could easily equal the experience of shutting down parts of Grand Central Station.

Overall, the West Side's waterfront is in the middle a renaissance. Whether it is Chelsea Piers, the High Line, the Intrepid Air and Space Museum, boutique hotels or facilities for cycling, tennis, trapeze lessons and beach volleyball, choosing this area of Manhattan for a destination corporate meeting will be wildly popular, especially for millennial attendees.
