From Off-Broadway to Broadway: Violet makes hotly antipicated debut

Two-time Tony Award-winner Sutton Foster will return as the lead in the Broadway debut of Violet.  The musical is based on a long journey by Foster, who is a young woman traveling on a bus to see a televangelist in hopes that he will heal a disfigurement she received in a childhood accident. Along the way, she forms unlikely friendships with some unusual riders.

As an Off-Broadway production in 1997, Violet was the winner of the Drama Critics’ Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical.  Violet features music by Tony nominee Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change, Fun Home).  The All-Star Broadway cast includes Colin Donnell (Anything Goes, Jersey Boys), Alexander Gemignani (“Homeland,” Sunday in the Park with George) and Tony nominee Joshua Henry (The Scottsboro Boys, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess).

Shackman Associates New York provides corporate meeting, association convention and destination meeting groups with unique Broadway experiences that often include backstage tours and interaction with key performers.
